Rap beef went from the streets to the courthouse when Drake filed a petition against Spotify and Universal Music Group, accusing the companies of conspiring to inflate the streaming and radio numbers of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” amid the rappers’ monthslong feud. According to the petition filed in the New York court system, that UMG paid influencers, radio stations and others to promote the song and use bots to increase the song’s popularity.
During halftime at last nights Lakers and Suns’ NBA Cup matchup, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘TV Off’ started blaring from the speakers and the “Inside the NBA” set off Shaq and Jalen Rose had jokes. Shaq yelled “Mustard!!!!!!” and Jalen Rose put down the alley-oop by saying:
“I don’t know if y’all should be playing that Kendrick. You don’t wanna get a lawsuit up in here!!”
Too funny!!
Seriously though, UMG has responded to Drake’s defamation suit in a statement:
“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue,”
