Kendrick Lamar who has been very selective in dropping albums, to his credit, garnering him much success, however this beef he has got going with Drake, took him out of his hook up and instead of trading diss tracks with Drizzy, K-Dot started rapid firing out tracks, with a scorcher ‘Not Like Us’ earning several Grammy nominations. Drake is now responding to the beef not with a diss track but rather a lawsuit aimed at Universal Music Group and Spotify, saying that they should have hit pause on ‘Not Like Us’.
Drake has filed a petition against Spotify and Universal Music Group, accusing the companies of conspiring to inflate the streaming and radio numbers of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” amid the rappers’ monthslong feud. According to the petition filed in the New York court system, that UMG paid influencers, radio stations and others to promote the song and use bots to increase the song’s popularity.
Universal Music Group (UMG) has responded to allegations by UMG artist Drake that it conspired with Spotify to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”
“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue,” the company said in a statement provided to Billboard. “We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.”
