A day late, and some tariff/gas price dollars short, Tucker Carlson during episode of his podcast, said he wants to apologize for “misleading people,” for intentionally influencing people with support of Donald Trump.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson made the comments on Monday’s episode of his podcast, “The Tucker Carlson Show,” speaking with his brother Buckley Carlson, a former Trump speechwriter.
“You wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him. I mean, we’re implicated in this, for sure,” …“It’s not enough to say, ‘Well, I changed my mind,’ or, like, ‘Oh, this is bad, I’m out.’”“It’s, like, in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now,” … “I’ll be tormented for a long time by the fact that I played a role in getting Donald Trump elected. And I want to say that I’m sorry for misleading people.”
Tucker Carlson hosted the nightly political talk show Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News from 2016 to 2023, when his contract with Fox News was terminated due to legal liabilities, including the $787.5 million Dominion Voting Systems settlement, and a lawsuit from producer Abby Grossberg alleging a toxic, sexist work environment. His departure was also driven by his extreme on-air rhetoric and controversial private messages. Tucker’s 360 on Donald Trump seems to be because Carlson, a key proponent of a non-interventionist foreign policy, broke with Trump over the conflict with Iran, arguing it betrays voters who supported a promise to “prevent World War III”.
