ATL Family Turks And Caicos Vacay Turns Into A Nightmare After 7 Armed Masked Men Stormed Their Airbnb [VIDEO]

It used to be a time when people traveled out of the country it was recommended that the stayed in and on a resort.  However people have found it more economical to vacation, staying in Airbnb’s.  An Atlanta family vacation turned into a nightmare after 7 armed masked men stormed their Airbnb in Turks and Caisos. 

An Atlanta family on a birthday getaway in Turks and Caicos, were sitting on the back porch of Aqua Blu Beach Villas when the men approached and told everyone not to move. The victims said one woman was hit in the head with a gun, with the suspects ultimately breaking her phone after she couldn’t remember her iCloud password. The men allegedly threatened to kill the group before stealing passports, cash, jewelry, purses and phones. One woman who was locked inside a room managed to message the Airbnb host and ask them to call police, but the suspects were gone when officers arrived.

According to authorities, surveillance footage showed the men sitting nearby and watching the family for 30 minutes before attacking. Following the attack thousands of dollars was charged to their stolen credit cards. Police police had to helped them obtain temporary documents to fly back home to Atlanta, Georgia.

Unfortunately the family didn’t learn until after the attack that Turks and Caicos was under a U.S. travel advisory. The Turks and Caicos Islands Travel Advisory is set at Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution by the U.S. Department of State due to crime, including petty theft, purse snatchings, scams, and reports of sexual assaults.

The family is now urging other vacationers to remain vigilant, watch their surroundings, and avoid trusting strangers when traveling.
