Ryan Coogler Announces The ‘Black Panther’ Heir, Actor David Jonsson [VIDEO]

Box office smash ‘The Black Panther’ with a predominately all black cast starring the late Chadwick Boseman dropped in  2018.  The Marvel movie that drew in Marvel fans as well as others had people across America chanting Wakanda Forever with pride at the futuristic film showing black people prospering in their own kingdom as Kings and Queens.  After the shocking passing of Chadwick Boseman after succumbing to cancer, fans were saddened as well as wondering would there be a ‘Black Panther’ sequel and could it be as powerful as the first.  The answer was yes, and in December of 2028 there will be a part 3 and recently Ryan Coogler made an announcing, introduction of the ‘Black Panther’ heir, actor David Jonsson will play the role of Prince T’Challa.

Prince T’Challa, the son of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa who was introduced as a boy in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s post credits scene, will lead Wakanda in it’s 3rd chapter played by 32 year old actor David Jonsson.

David Jonsson is a a British actor who began his career on the West End, winning a Black British Theatre Award for his performance in the play and breathe… (2021). David Jonsson is known for his performance in the BBC Two and HBO television series Industry (2020–22), as well as his roles in the films Rye Lane (2023), Alien: Romulus (2024), and The Long Walk (2025).

Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently told Empire how David Jonsson was cast as the next Black Panther and that Jonsson met with “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler in a “secret meeting,” and that the Oscar winner quickly identified Jonsson as his next leading man.
