Prayers: Melvin Sephus Founding Member Of Singing Group ‘The Rude Boys’ Has Passed

Prayers are in order as it has been reported that Melvin Sephus an original founding member of Cleveland’s own 90’s R&B group ‘The Rude Boys’ has passed away.

‘The Rude Boys’ who were discovered by the legendary Gerald Levert, comprised of Larry “Bingo” Marcus (who passed away in 2016), Melvin Sephus, and brothers Edward Lee “Buddy” Banks (who passed away in 2020) and Joe Little III, released the debut album, Rude Awakening, which yielded a #1 R&B hit with its second single, “Written All Over Your Face,” featuring Gerald Levert singing lead which  was followed by another #1 hit, a ballad “Are You Lonely For Me,”.  The Rude Boys were inducted into the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in Detroit, Michigan in 2019.

Although health issues had kept Melvin Sephus from actively performing with the group’s surviving and/or touring members in recent years, his legacy remained deeply intertwined with the group.  No cause of death has been reported at this time.

Let’s keep the family, friends and Joe Little III of The Rude Boys uplifted in our prayers.
