Chicago native rapper Lil Durk was reportedly arrested in a murder-for-hire plot. Several members of the Chicago-based OTF crew, which Lil Durk allegedly has ties , were charged with the slaying of rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin. Lil Durk has been in federal custody since his arrest in October 2024 and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. In June 2026, prosecutors added new racketeering and “murder in aid of racketeering” charges related to alleged gang activity and other incidents in Chicago and Atlanta. Today, Lil Durk scored a win as a federal judge ruled in favor of Lil Durk’s legal team.
Lil Durk’s attorneys had argued that the racketeering charges should be dismissed entirely or, failing that, be tried separately. They wrote in a recent filing that by adding the charges, the prosecution was “sandbagging” the defense “by switching its…theories” right before the trial is about to start. In addition, they argued that introducing so much new evidence so close to the start of proceedings would force them delay the trial date, and thus rob their client of his right to a speedy trial. To which a federal judge agreed.
Lil Durk’s trial is scheduled to start August 20, 2026.
