Britteny Griner Pleads Not Guilty, Asks For House Arrest, Russia Say’s No Then Extends Her Arrest!?

We found out in the midst of Russia invading the Ukraine that WNBA star, Britteny Griner, who had been playing for a women’s Russian basketball team during the offseason had been arrested back in February after Russian customs officials allegedly found hashish oil (vape cartridges) in her carry-on luggage at an airport.

On March 17th, Britteny Griner got her first day in court since being arrested, and in the Moscow court, Britteny Griner plead not guilty with her lawyers asking the court to give Britteny Griner house arrest.  The Russians response to the not guilty and house arrest request?  Request denied then the Russian court extended Britteny Griners arrest to May 19th, the date that she will return to court again.

According to TMZ Britteny Griner’s legal team wasn’t surprised by the courts decision they had expected for their request to be denied.  It is also being reported that Griner’s legal team has been able to visit her on several occasions at the location where she’s being held and that she is doing okay, but is eager to return home.
