Karmelo Anthony’s legal team won its bid to have State District Judge John Roach Jr. removed from his murder appeal. As Karmelo Anthony’s fight for a new trial moves ahead with his new legal dream team, disturbing details about Austin Metcalf’s past are coming to light, a light that Karmelo Anthony’s previous lawyers didn’t shine for the jury that found him guilty.
According to court documents, Anthony’s defense presented more than 20 pages detailing Metcalf’s behavioral history, information that was reportedly kept away from the jury during the murder trial. Records reportedly show Metcalf and his brother were once caught spray painting racist graffiti that included “KKK k*ll all blacks,” “Heil Hitler” and the “N***a”. They were reportedly sentenced to 12 months of juvenile probation. Documents also detail several other times Metcalf allegedly used racial slurs at school, including a 2023 incident where he was accused of bullying a Black student. Court records reportedly also show Metcalf and his brother were accused of bullying and assaulting a girl while they were still in elementary school, which led to Metcalf being arrested. In another alleged incident in 2024, Metcalf was accused of knocking a female student to the ground and punching her in the stomach. Not mention much more…(see below)
