Prayers are in order as it was announced by ‘Turner Enterprises’ in a news release that billionaire businessman and founder of CNN, Ted Turner has passed away at the age of 87.
Ted Turner, a media mogul, philanthropist and the founder of CNN and a suite of other cable channels, a bison steakhouse, a nonprofit designed to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and an international sports competition died Wednesday at his home near Tallahassee, Fla. Ted Turner had announced just before his 80th birthday that he had Lewy Body Dementia, a degenerative disease that causes dementia and muscle failure.
Ted Turner a media visionary launched CNN (the Cable News Network), the nation’s first continuous all-news television station on June 1, 1980 at a converted Jewish country club in Atlanta. Turner took inspiration from 24-hour radio stations that relayed news headlines, and endless sports highlights on ESPN.
Ted Turner is survived by his five children, fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy as well as wealth.
