Tuskegee Kicker Facing Disciplinary Action After Kicking Balls At Alabama State’s Predominantly Black Band During Halftime [VIDEO]

This Thanksgiving holiday had most focused on the rivalry game between The Ohio State University vs. Michigan, however another rivalry that was going on south of this historic rivalry was The Turkey Day Classic between Tuskegee and Alabama State.   We all witnessed Brutus Buckeye cross out the ‘M’ in the Michigan end zone before spelling out Ohio State and dotting the ‘I’,  but clearly in the south they handle things a little differently.  A Tuskegee kicker is facing disciplinary action after he thought it was a cool idea to start kicking balls at Alabama State’s predominantly black band.  The problem that most had with the viral video was although Tuskegee University is a historically black college/university (HBCU) located in Tuskegee, Alabama, the kicker was white leaving many wondering why the coach didn’t reel in his disrespectful act.

During the historic HBCU rivalry game between Tuskegee and Alabama State during halftime, instead of fans watching the Alabama State Band rock out in true HBCU style they got to watch Tuskegee kicker Lorcan Ryans appearing to gesture toward fans with the middle finger and then shove a member of the Alabama State marching band while practicing his place kicks at the band. What’s crazier is that no ejections or penalties were reported during the game for the incident.  Although Tuskegee is a HBCU, Tuskegee kicker Lorcan Ryans is from Ireland and 1 of 3 white players on the team.

In response to the video that has since went viral Tuskegee’s official statement from VP/Director of Athletics Reginald Ruffin regarding Thursday’s incident was that,”We hold our student-athletes to the highest standard” and that he will face appropriate University disciplinary action.
