Donald Trump Explains Why Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman Didn’t Receive Flag Half Staff Treatment While Charlie Kirk Did [VIDEO]

Democratic Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed, and state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were wounded in politically motivated shootings back in June of 2025.   Charlie Kirk, 31 years old, one the most influential figures on the right and founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was assassinated during a speaking event at Utah Valley University last week.  Charlie Kirk’s assassination overshadowed the remembrance of 9/11, and garnered that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.  While State representative Melissa Hortman did not receive a flag half staff honoring.  Many have asked the question as to why?  President Donald Trump gave the answer…no one asked him too.

“Had the governor of Minnesota asked me to do that, I would have done that gladly,”  “I wouldn’t have thought of that. But I would have if somebody had asked me,” “I wouldn’t have thought of that. But I would have if somebody had asked me,” “Had the governor asked me to do that, I would have done that gladly.”
