NO CHARGES: Prosecutors Say Jacksonville Police Sucker Punching 22yr Old William McNeil, Jr “Tactical” [VIDEO]

Jacksonville, Florida, said they are investigating a viral video showing deputies punching and beating William McNeil, Jr.,a 22-year-old Black man, during a traffic stop.  William McNeil Jr. got pulled over for supposedly driving without headlights because of “bad weather” and not wearing a seatbelt.   McNeil stood his ground, refusing to exit the vehicle.  Police then broke his driver side window and reached in and sucker punched the 22 year old who say’s he didn’t get because he was scared.

In the incident that went viral, garnering national attention, Jacksonville Prosecutors just announced they’re letting the sheriff’s deputy off the hook, with no charges.  The state attorney’s office is calling what looked like a punch to the face a “one-time, open-handed strike” and claim it was “tactical” to get him out the SUV and show his hands.  The actions of Officer D. Bowers of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office did not constitute a crime, according to an investigative report released by the State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida.

In the investigative memo released Wednesday, prosecutors called the cell phone footage “incomplete in scope” and said Bowers made a lawful traffic stop when he pulled McNeil over and that Bowers’ use of force was justified.
