WNBA Star Brittney Griner Files For Divorce From Wife Of 8 Years That Held Her Down While Locked Up In Russia

Sad news is being reported that WNBA star Brittney Griner has filed for divorce from her wife of 8 years and mother of her son after holding her down while she was locked up in Russia.

According to new court documents filed in Fulton County, Georgia, the basketball champion stated that their marriage is “irretrievably broken” and shared that the pair has been living separately since July 24.  The legal papers show that Brittney is asking the court for joint legal and physical custody of their 2-year-old son, Bash, along with a fair split of their shared property.   

Brittany Griner’s wife Cherelle fought tirelessly to bring Brittney Griner home when she was wrongfully held in a Russian prison for nearly ten months back in 2022, when Russia was detained when allegedly vape cartridges containing hashish oil were found in her luggage. Brittaney Griner who was facing the maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if found guilty was released through a high-level prisoner swap involving Viktor Bout, a one-for-one exchange.
