An Entire Oklahoma Police Department, Along With Police Chief Defunded Themselves

With unsavory actions of police across being highlighted mostly due to social media, we often hear chants during protests for the police to be defunded to fix the problem with police brutality.  Oddly enough the an entire Oklahoma Police Department along with their Chief of Police defunded themselves.

According to a report, the entire police department in Geary, Oklahoma, a small town located about 50 miles northwest of Oklahoma City, resigned last week with no explanation given.  The small town of Geary, Oklahoma’s, police chief, four police officers and two city council members resigned.

According to Geary PD’s Facebook page:

To the Citizens of Geary. We regret to inform you, and we are sad to say that our entire Police Force resigned this morning at 10:00 am. Considering this information, we were able to quickly secure an interim Chief of Police effective immediately, so the City of Geary is being taken care of without delay. We are also very appreciative to the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office and the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office who are aware of the situation and offered their assistance during this time of transition. We would like to let our citizens know we are conducting business as usual. If you have an emergency, please contact 911 like you normally would and an officer will be dispatched to assist you. We would also like to offer our thanks and appreciation to our former Chief of Police and Officers for their service to our community and wish them all the best of luck. The City of Geary is currently working to make repairs and restore power to all our citizens from damage that was done during a severe thunderstorm yesterday evening. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Terryl Allen
City of Geary Public Information Officer
