Los Angeles Lakers Unveil New Statue of Kobe Bryant and Gigi

It’s still hard to be believe that one of the greatest professional basketball players of our lifetime, Kobe Bryant’s life was cut short in January of 2020 in a helicopter crash along with his daughter Gianna.  Although Kobe and Gigi are not here in the physical their spirit in memory lives on.

Today the Los Angeles Lakers unveiled the second in a planned three statues for Kobe Bryant outside Crypto.com Arena honor of the ‘Girl Dad’.

The statue shows Kobe and Gianna hugging while they sat courtside at a Lakers game on Dec. 19, 2019. They’re surrounded by an angel’s wings, and the statue includes a plaque bearing a Kobe Bryant quote about his daughter. 

“Gianna is a beast,” “She’s better than I was at her age. She’s got it. Girls are amazing. I would have five more girls if I could. I’m a girl dad.”
