People don’t realize the stress and commitment that comes with being an Olympian, just to compete in the biggest sporting event of all time. The pressure of being on the top of your game, to feel the thrill of victory hoping not to experience the agony of defeat on the largest stage of the world. The one stress you wouldn’t think an Olympian had to worry about is paying their rent.
Vanderbilt’s Veronica Fraley is making her Olympic debut in the women’s discus throw at the 2024 Paris Game and instead of posting pics of Paris, she posted, on the platform formerly known as Twitter, the day before she was set to let of go of her discuss in hopes of Gold, that she was in Paris but that she can’t pay her rent back in Nashville.
Veronica Fraley shared that her school only sent her 75% of the funds. Veronica clarified that her irritation is not with her school but with the rules that prevent her from making the amount of money she is worth.
In America we may seem divided but at the Olympics we are one.
Serena Williams husband Alexis Ohanian and Hip Hop legend Flava Flav, heard Fraley’s pleas and the came to rescue, responding to her Tweet then provided her with the support needed, the amount of $7k.
Now that’s love.
