Track and Field Olympian Great Allyson Felix Is Retiring [VIDEO]

Back in August Track and Field star, 35 year old Allyson Felix etched her name in Olympic history by winning her 11th Olympic medal at The Tokyo Olympics after winning her 11th Olympic medal making her the most decorated U.S. track athlete in Olympic history.  The title was held by Olympic great Carl Lewis after he earned it in 1996.  Allyson Felix who is a mother, that almost lost her NIKE endorsement when they found out she was pregnant, is also the oldest U.S. woman to ever win a track and field gold medal, and has stood on the winners’ podium at least one time in the past five Olympics.   Today Allyson Felix is announcing that seeing her stand on that Olympic podium this past summer will be the last time, as she has announced that she will be retiring.

Allyson Felix made her announcement via her personal Instagram stating she is making “one last run” but it will be about the joy rather than the time on the clock.

As a little girl they called chicken legs, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I’d have a career like this. I have so much gratitude for this sport that has changed my life. I have given everything I have to running and for the first time I’m not sure if I have anything left to give. I want to say goodbye and thank you to the sport and people who have helped shape me the only way I know how—with one last run. This season isn’t about the time on the clock, it’s simply about joy. If you see me on the track this year I hope to share a moment, a memory and my appreciation with you.

This season I’m running for women. I’m running for a better future for my daughter. I’m running for you. More to come on that, so stay tuned, but I’ll be sharing a series of announcements that I’m hoping will make the world better for women.

Here’s to my final season✨
