Why Now?? Oprah Shares A Whitney Houston Falling Off Her Stage Relapse Story [VIDEO]

Anyone that knows a person that is or has been on drugs it’s a battle to get on the wagon and many fall off that wagon often before being able to stay on, recovery is an on going process.  Arguably the greatest voice to ever grace this earth, multi Grammy award winning singer Whitney Houston had a battle with drugs.  Fact is Whitney Houston entered rehabilitation facilities for drug and alcohol treatment multiple times throughout her adult life before her life was cut short on February 11, 2012. The official autopsy report declared Whitney Houston’s cause of death as accidental drowning, heart disease and cocaine use.  Whitney Houston fans watched her go through her ups and downs praying for her healing that never would come.  

Here’s what we didn’t know, according to Oprah Winfrey was down in Cannes telling some things that we probably didn’t have to know.

During a sit-down at Lumière Theatre, Oprah highlighted the responsibility of media and how strong of an influence they have, when she decided to use her interview with the late Whitney Houston as an example.  The part we really didn’t need to know was according to Oprah, Whitney had fallen off the wagon which prompted her to fall of Oprah’s stage.  Mind you this was pre-social media, but people did still carry personal cameras to take pictures for themselves and in this case their picture of Whitney Houston falling off the stage could have earned them a lot of money but ruined Whitney Houston.  Oprah say’s that she used her influence to have people to keep their photos to themselves.

“I had such trust from ‘The Oprah Show’ audience … I think it was [Houston’s] last show with us, and she had gone back on drugs,” Winfrey said. “The first interview I did with her when we’d gone behind stage and I asked her about her intention, she was clean, but the day she came to my show then to perform in front of the audience, she was not, and she fell off of the stage.”

She went on to say that she “knew that if that story got out … she [Whitney] would be destroyed by that”.
