It seems that the #FreeWendy campaign is producing results for the legendary Wendy Williams as she has revealed in a new interview that she underwent an independent mental evaluation to test her competency and passed with flying colors.
Wendy Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and dementia back in May 2023, about one year after she was placed under a legal guardianship overseeing her health and finances. Wendy’s guardian claimed she “has been afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.” Then in February the former talk show host, 60 Wendy Williams, signed an affidavit asking a judge to end her guardianship. Wendy Williams say’s that this all started with her kid being an alleged kid set off red flags with Wells Fargo.
Monday morning the story was that ‘The View’ was going to be interviewing Wendy Williams via phone, airing it on Friday. But then allegedly Wendy Williams dropped a note to the paparazzi outside of her window asking for help. Allegedly authorities were called, Wendy Williams was then escorted to the hospital. Once at Lenox Hill Hospital, doctors noted a difference in opinion between Wendy’s lawyer and her guardian. But, after some back-and-forth, they got the green light for two evaluation tests.
Bringing us to today. Wendy Williams called into the place from which her roots are from as well as the ones who have been leading the #FreeWendy charge, The Breakfast Club radio show, to give an update as to what happened.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Wendy shared that she asked to be taken to the hospital for the evaluation. She said she “aced” two tests, answering basic questions like who the president is and her birthdate.
