United Airlines Employee Under Investigation After Threatening To Call ICE On A Family [VIDEO]

It’s amazing some of the things that people do in this day and age when everything is caught on camera.  Reportedly United Airlines is investigating one of their employees who was caught on video threatening to call ICE on a family.

According to reports, Julio Varela was preparing to fly to Montreal with his wife and two daughters last week when they discovered one of his daughter’s tickets had her middle and last names switched. The family spent three hours going back and forth between United Airlines and Air Canada counters trying to fix the issue.  The situation escalated when a United employee joined the conversation while an Air Canada employee was attempting to resolve the problem. Varela claims the employee told him, “I already told you. I can’t do anything. Whether you fly out or not, I don’t care.”  During the exchange, the United employee can be heard saying, “Maybe we should call ICE on you.”

Varela said United Airlines issued him an apology in private for the altercation, and the airline released a statement reading:

“We’re looking into the interaction in this video, but don’t have anything additional to share at this time.”

Immigration and criminal defense attorney Ronald Cabanayan told KTVU that the confrontation could be grounds for a civil rights lawsuit.
