The White House Clarifies Freeze On Federal Benefits [VIDEO]

A lot of Americans are sick to their stomach as President Donald Trumps pen is slicing like a sword.  Todays news is Donald Trump’s administration is freezing a massive swath of government funding until agencies review their programs for compliance with the president’s recently signed executive orders.  White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, during her first press briefing on Tuesday, faced a barrage of questions on the administration’s freeze on federal financial assistance programs.   The White House responded with some better clarity.

“Social Security benefits, Medicare benefits, food stamps, welfare benefits, assistance that is going directly to individuals will not be impacted by this pause,”

However the question of how this affects Medicaid was no answered.

According to a report this move is likely unconstitutional given Congress, not the president, has the power of the purse and could seriously harm healthcare providers nationwide, many of which rely on federal grants to operate, and may even pause federal Medicaid funding to states, according to experts.
