Teddy Riley Confirms New R. Kelly Music Is on the Way

Back in 2020 the talk of the shutdown was The Teddy Riley Vs. Babyface battle that had over 401K viewers was supposed to start at 9 EST , Babyface was ready with his keyboard, a mic, in a small studio by himself armed with his cellphone, Teddy Riley was 45 minutes late and he along with his production crew had some technical difficulties.  The 90’s super producer Teddy Riley has had over 5 years to get his social media/digital swing together and he has seemingly confirmed that new R. Kelly is on the way.

Robert Kelly may be imprisoned because he convicted of some heinous acts against the sex that propelled him to greatest heights in his musical career.  However it doesn’t negate the fact that R. Kelly was the piped piper of R&B that had 26 Grammy nominations and 3 Grammy Awards sitting on his mantel.  Allegedly privately creepy, but a musical genius none the less.  R. Kelly may have been muted and dethroned of his freedom, but according to Kell’s in a March of 2025 podcast his mind is free as he has written 25 albums while in prison.

Teddy Riley recently shared a rough snippet that features R. Kelly singing over Chris Brown’s recent track “It Depends.”  The audio sounds like it was recorded during a phone call, with Kelly making it clear the vocals are his and offering a shoutout to Brown. The clip was first posted by Kelly’s label, Rockland Records, on Instagram on Thursday, January 8, before Riley reposted it.  In his caption, Riley hinted that this preview may only be the beginning, writing:

“Still the King of R&B Bar None!!!! Can’t wait for yall to hear the new music!!! Til then teaser missiles will be dropping!!! It’s about that time for real music!!! #legendary #letsgo”

Will R. Kelly finally be unmuted?
