Target CEO Brian Cornell Will Be Meeting With Rev. Al Sharpton To Discuss DEI Rollback

It sounds like Target is missing folks.

When Trump slung his ink sword to eliminate DEI, in January, some took the wait and see approach before eliminating DEI from their companies some no sooner then Trump said he wanted it gone had a coming out party that they were eliminating DEI.  One of those companies was Target, which was been sliding down a slippery slope for 10 weeks with foot traffic declining because people are taking their dollar to where they feel it is appreciated.  Stock holders have been upset with Target jumping out there saying they were going to rollback their DEI policies.  Now it seems that Target CEO Brian Cornell is going to roll over to meet with Rev. Al Sharpton to discuss the DEI rollback and future Target boycotts.

According to a post on Rev. Al Sharpton’s Instagram page, Target asked for a meeting, following some civil rights groups urging consumers not to shop at Target in response to the retailer’s decision to cut back on DEI. While Sharpton has not yet called for a boycott of Target, he has supported efforts from others to stop shopping at the retailer’s stores.

“You can’t have an election come and all of a sudden, change your old positions,” “If an election determines your commitment to fairness then fine, you have a right to withdraw from us, but then we have a right to withdraw from you.”…‘If [Cornell] wants to have a candid meeting, we’ll meet,’”
In early February, Dr. Jamal Bryant, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, joined other leaders and activists in supporting a call to boycott the Minneapolis-based store, saying it “spit in the face of Black people” by cutting out its DEI policy.
