The OG of The Real Housewives of Potomac franchise, Karen Huger, has been in serious legal trouble facing jail time following her crashing her car in March 2024, in Potomac, Maryland. The embarrassing incident was the story line for, Karen Huger for much of RHOP season 9. Karen Huger was convicted and found guilty of driving under the influence, negligent driving and other charges. Karen Huger has completed her 28 days in rehabilitation and is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings daily. Karen’s defense doesn’t believe jail time is necessary, and the trial really woke her up and she is doing the work to prove so. The prosecution begged to differ saying they wanted her to do 6 months behind bars.
Karen Huger had her day in sentencing court on Wednesday and the judge didn’t agree with either side and sentenced Huger to 1 year in jail.
Karen Huger, 61 years old, was sentenced Wednesday to two years in jail, with one year suspended, after a jury found her guilty of several charges relating to a DUI incident in March 2024. Huger, who has 30 days to file an appeal, will also pay $2,900 in total fines and cannot drive a car for one year after her release.
According to Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Terrence J. McGann:
“The defendant’s four drunk driving offenses have spanned a 17-year period,”… “Can we believe that she’s only driven while intoxicated four times in the last 17 years or is it more likely that she’s been very lucky and her inebriation has gone undetected?”
Karen Huger appeared visibly upset and according to a source to People.com, that while taken into custody, Huger told her husband, “You will be alright” and that “God’s got you,”
