Prayers: Country Music Icon Dolly Parton Has Passed at 80 Years Old [VIDEO]

Prayers are in order as it has been reported that country music icon, notably known for one Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, ‘I Will Always Love You’, Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80 years old.

The news was reported via Dolly Parton’s nephew, Brian Seaver, in a video post.

Dolly Parton’s career spanned over 60 years, selling over 100 million records and winning 11 Grammy Awards, making her one of the bestselling musical performers of all time.

“I Will Always Love You” was written and originally recorded by Dolly Parton in 1974. The original version reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart twice—first in 1974 and again in 1982 when she re-recorded it for the film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, before Whitney Houston covered the song in 1992 for the movie The Bodyguard, turning it into a massive global pop hit, earning Whitney Houston 2 Grammy awards for ‘Record Of The Year’ and ‘Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female’

According to CNN in an interview published Friday, Dolly Parton said she had been “dealing with some health issues,” which she did not address while she was busy caring for her husband, who died just over a year ago.
