Breaking news of historical proportions was reported, New York City Eric Adams has been indicted in a Federal corruption investigation.  The historic indictment of the first sitting mayor of New York City is expected to be unsealed Thursday by US Attorney Damian Williams. It’s being reported that Eric Adams will surrender to authorities early next week.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams held a press conference addressing the indictment as well as the Federal investigation into alleged corruption.  Eric Adams says that he has no plans of stepping down although he is being questioned as to how he will be able to do his duties if he is detained.

Mayor Adams maintains his innocence and claims he is being targeted. He says, “I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you that I would be a target and a target I became.” The mayor says he understands that New Yorkers may feel uncertainty about his ability to lead after being charged but says he will continue to uplift New York. He says, “I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength. If I am charged, I know I am innocent.”

A 57-page five-count federal indictment unsealed on Thursday morning reveals federal charges of bribery, fraud, and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations.  The mayor is accused of taking the illegal campaign contributions and bribes from foreign nationals in exchange for favors that included helping Turkish officials get fire safety approvals for a new diplomatic building in the city.
