Judge Judy, Judith Sheindlin, Officially Retiring at The Age of 83

After 3 decades of ruling courtroom drama on television, the tiny but mighty Judge Judy is officially retiring at the age of 83 years old.  

Judith Sheindlin at the  age of 83 told People,  “I don’t have to prove anything else. I did it.”, as she is stepping away from on-camera work when her Prime Video courtroom series “Judy Justice” wraps its run in October, marking the end of a TV career that began with “Judge Judy” nearly 30 years ago. Sheindlin says she’s ready for a new chapter focused on family, hobbies and other creative projects, including her animated “Judyverse” series.

Judith Sheindlin’s iconic CBS show Judge Judy ended in 2021 after 25 seasons, though syndicated reruns still air daily on traditional television, Judge Judy’s husband, Jerry Sheindlin, hosted the television court show The People’s Court from 1999 to 2001.  Now reportedly Judge Judy is passing the courtroom torch to her son, Adam Levy, whose new syndicated court show “Adam’s Law” premieres September 14, 2026.

What’s next for Judge Judy?  “I have a lot of other things of interest,”  “I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there.”
