25 Yrs Ago Today 3 Selected 6th Grade Black Scholars And Their Teacher Chaperones Lost Their Lives On American Airlines Flight 77 [VIDEO]

What should have been a day of pride and of achievement was turned into one of the darkest days in US history when highjackers  on September 11, 2001 crashed planes into the Twin Towers in New York, The Pentagon in Washington D.C. and over taken highjackers were taken over by brave souls that knew they were going to loose their lives in Pennsylvania. 3 Washington, D.C., sixth-graders and their chaperones, boarded American Airlines Flight 77 for what was supposed to be an exciting educational trip to California, are now a part of history, when their plane was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37am.

11-year-old Bernard C. Brown II, Asia S. Cottom and Rodney Dickens had been selected to participate in a National Geographic-sponsored ecology conference at the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, accompanied by their teachers James D. Debeuneure, Sara M. Clark and Hilda E. Taylor, along with National Geographic staff members.  The students had been selected to participate in a National Geographic-sponsored ecology conference at the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, accompanied by their teachers James D.
