James And Chico DeBarge Arrested For Alleged Drug Possession

The DeBarge family that are members of the legendary Motown group ‘Switch’ and DeBarge as well solo artists, are some of the most vocally gifted singers of our time from oldest to youngest going back as far as the 1970’s. But just as famously known as they are for there timeless music they are just as famous unfortunately for their alleged drug downfalls.  Sadly it’s being reported that 63 year old James DeBarge and 60 year old Chico DeBarge have been arrested for alleged drug possession.

According to TMZ, James and Chico DeBarge were arrested last week for drug possession during a traffic stop in Los Angeles. Police are alleging that a traffic stop was conducted because James DeBarge was driving a Chevy Tahoe that was towing a Nissan SUV with Chico DeBarge sitting inside and neither SUVs had license plates plus they neither James or Chico were wearing seatbelts. The simple traffic stop turned into the police finding “suspected fentanyl and suspected methamphetamine.” Chico DeBarge, who had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest and James DeBarge (Janet Jackson’s ex husband) were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Members of the famous musical family DeBarge have faced numerous legal issues over decades, Chico DeBarge received a federal prison sentence of 63 months in January 1989 following his conviction on cocaine trafficking and smuggling charges. While his brother James DeBarge back in 2012 was arrested on charges including assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession.
