Iyanla Vanzant Asks R. Kelly For Forgiveness In A Public Apology [VIDEO]

Spiritual teacher, author, life coach, and television personality, Iyanla Vanzant, on a recent appearance on ‘The Jason Lee Show’  instead of some asking “Iyanla: Fix My Life” Vanzant is asking incarcerated R&B singer R. Kelly for forgiveness. 

In a public apology to Robert Kelly, Iyanla Vanzant doesn’t believe she can fly but she believes herself as well as other community elders failed him long before his criminal convictions.  Rather than discussing his downfall exclusively through the lens of his crimes, Vanzant addressed the singer directly, apologizing for not recognizing or responding to his personal struggles.

“Forgive me as an elder in our community not being available to support you,” Vanzant said, addressing Kelly directly. “Forgive me for ignoring your pain. Forgive me for abandoning you.”

R&B singer R. Kelly (Robert Sylvester Kelly) is currently serving a combined 31-year federal prison sentence and is not projected to be eligible for release until January 2046.
