Goldie From ‘THE MACK’ Max Julien Has Passed Away at The Age of 88

Prayers are in order as the star from one of the most legendary Blaxploitation films ever made ‘The Mack’ has passed.

Actor/writer/producer Max Julien best known for his 1973 role as ‘Goldie’ a formerly incarcerated man on a mission to become Oakland’s No. 1 pimp in ‘The Mack’ with co-stared Richard Pryor, was found dead by his wife early January 1, 2022 at the age of 88.  No cause of death has been given at this time.

According to a released statement:

“During Julien’s decades-long career, he was known for being bold, honest and straightforward. He would live and speak his own truth both professionally and privately. He was thought of as a rare ‘man among men.”

Max Julien also had roles in “The Black Klansman,” “Psych-Out,” “Uptight,” “Mod Squad,” “Getting Straight,” “How to Be Player,” as well as the mastermind behind another Blaxploitation cult classic ‘Cleopatra Jones’.

We will be keeping the family, friends and colleagues of Max Julien uplifted in our prayers.
