We all love to see summer time, unfortunately with summer comes the sad stories of young people drowning. We reported the beginning of June that a search was underway along the Jersey Shore for a teenager with special needs who while on a school trip vanished while swimming. Sadly eight days later Davoris Carter, 14, has been found.
Davoris Carter disappeared on June 1 after police were alerted to multiple swimmers in distress off the shore. First responders were able to rescue three people from the water, but Davoris could not be located.
Eight days later police said in a new press release that they were notified the previous day that recovery efforts for a deceased person were underway near the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May.
“During the course of this investigation, it became apparent that this individual may be the 14-year-old juvenile male victim who had gone missing in the ocean,”
The department worked with the Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police and Cape May Police Department to recover the remains, and the medical examiner’s office confirmed that the body was Davoris Carter.
