The 47th President Donald Trump officially took office on Monday, January 20, 2025, Dr. Martin Luther King Day, and began undoing, through executive orders, things that were put in place by previous administrations, starting with undoing DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) roles be placed on paid leave by Wednesday evening, even upping the ante by revoking The Equal Employment Opportunity Act. The Trump administration standing on their business has been threatening public schools and universities that if they didn’tcomply they would loose their fedefal funding. One would think that HBCU’s would be leading the charge to fight back on this, but no it is the Ivey League, Harvard University and former POTUS Barak Obama is applauding them for it.
On Monday, Harvard University made a statement claiming they were NOT going to abide by Trump’s demands, which included axing DEI programs, changing their hiring process, and limiting activism on campus. The university called the demands a way for the administration to “control” the university. In retaliation, Trump decided to cut the university’s $2 billion in grants and $60 million in contracts, claiming that they will reinstate them once they comply with the demands.

However our forever President Barak Obama, who graduated from Harvard Law in 1991 with a Juris Doctor magna cum laude, is standing ten toes down with Harvard University, ironically of all places, taking to ‘X’ formerly known as Twitter owned by Elon Musk.
“Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.”
How does that old saying go? “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything”
