8 People Arrested After Filming The Kidnapping, Torture and Killing Of a Birmingham Mother

On Sunday, Feb. 25, 20 year old Mahogany Jackson sent a text to her family members that she was being held hostage, sending her location to send but told them not to call her.  When help arrived Mahogany wasn’t there.  Mahogany was found the next day under a mattress at an illegal dump site known as “Dead Man’s Road.”

According to authorities the mother of a 3 year old, Mahogany Jackson was tortured for hours before she was killed by a gunshot to the back of her head, was stripped, handcuffed, beaten, spit on and forced to perform sex acts at gunpoint.  Mahogany believed she was going to hang out with “friends”. Instead, when Jackson arrived at 24-year-old Brandon Pope’s home she was stripped naked, handcuffed, beaten, spat on, and gang raped at gunpoint. The 8 suspects were supposedly carrying out a vendetta against her. One suspect forced her to perform oral sex threatening something would happen to her if it wasn’t “enjoyable”, other suspects were urged by another to sexually assault Jackson, despite her begging for mercy.  Police found that the suspects filmed portions of these “heinous and disgusting” attacks in a total of 5 circulated public videos that took place at 2 of the 8 suspects’ residences .

Police arrested 8 suspects, four men and four women for allegedly torturing and killing Mahogany Jackson. All have been charged with felony murder, and all but one charged with sodomy and kidnapping. None have been released on bond.  Five defendants are charged with felony murder, first-degree kidnapping, and first-degree sodomy.  Francis “Ace” Harris, 25, who is the suspected gunman, Jeremiah “Kodak” McDowell, 18, and Brandon Pope, 24, are charged with capital murder during a first-degree kidnapping and capital murder during first-degree sodomy.
