Congratulations Kandi Burruss Has Been Nominated Into The Songwriters Hall of Fame [VIDEO]

Many know Kandi Burruss as a former star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and more so for being a founding member of the 90’s R&B group Xscape.  Aside from all the Kandi Coated Nights and gunning down Alicia in ‘The CHI’ many don’t realize that Kandi Burruss earned her Grammy Award not from singing bars but writing bars for other artist, that also won the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’s Songwriter of the Year award in 2000, in the Rhythm & Soul category, making her the first African-American woman to win the award.   So news that Kandi Burruss has been officially named a nominee for the Class of 2027 Songwriters Hall of Fame, celebrating her extensive catalog of R&B and pop hits, shouldn’t come as a surprise but the news brought Kandi to tears.

Songwriters become eligible for induction 20 years after the commercial release of their first song.

Kandi Burruss, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Ne-Yo and will.i.am are among the notable names nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s 2027 class. The announcement also recognizes music figures including Lady Gaga, P!nk, Shakira, Sia, Vince Gill, Jack White and members of Blondie, America, WAR and ZZ Top.  The 2027 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in New York City.
