Independent Autopsy For Nolan Wells Reveals Head Injuries That Weren’t Reported In The Original Autopsy

18 year old, Nolan Xavier Wells, was last seen July 4 on the island, where he was hanging out with a group of friends, that he traveled there with, but everyone else reportedly made it back to the mainland without him. On July 4th, 2026, Nolan Xavier Wells was reported missing after going on a weekend trip with friends on Horn Island, Mississippi. The Ocean Springs native was last seen shirtless, wearing blue swim trunks and black sunglasses, on a boat on the island with friends. Days later Nolan Wells was found washed up on shore on the northwest end of Horn Island. The family of Nolan Wells has been begging for answers as to what happened to him.   A Grand Jury gave the verdict as no criminal wrongdoing, however his family isn’t satisfied with the verdict and have even more questions as an independent autopsy reveals head and back injuries that weren’t reported in the original autopsy.

Reportedly the district attorney said the grand jury had been unanimous in not returning a true bill, or indictment, after considering a wide range of evidence from witnesses and other sources, including elements of the independent investigation launched by Wells’ family. The grand jury further found that the “position of, condition of, time of discovery, and location” of his body was “consistent with drowning.”

Reportedly findings from an independent autopsy were released hours after a grand jury declined to file criminal charges, stating that Nolan’s death was consistent with drowning. However, neither autopsy could determine his exact cause of death.  The independent autopsy found a 12-by-8-inch area of blunt force trauma on the back of Nolan’s head, along with bruising on his back and left shoulder blade. Some of these injuries were not disclosed in the original autopsy report.
