The importance of branding is to defines your company’s identity, builds recognition, and sets you apart from competitors. Donald Trump has always been the king of branding however the question is becoming is he taking branding too far? On Sunday, President Donald Trump posted an image on Truth Social depicting the outline of New Mexico, showing “Mexico” crossed out and “America” written in its place. The development unfolded days after he signed an executive order to change Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” The name New Mexico comes from the Spanish Nuevo México and was used centuries earlier by Spanish explorers.
While the U.S. government has authority to change landmark names on domestic maps, Trump cannot force other nations or international organizations to adopt his name adjustments.
In response to the post, Democrat New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said on ‘X’ formerly known as Twitter:
“While the President tries to distract Americans from his disastrous war in Iran, gas prices keep soaring,”“While the White House wastes time coloring on maps, Nuevo México is busy doing the work.”
