Wu-Tang Clan Founding Member Oliver ‘Power’ Grant Has Passed At 52

Prayers are in order as it has been confirmed by the legendary rap group The Wu-Tang Clan that founding  Oliver “Power” Grant, has passed away at the age of 52 years old on Monday.

Wu-Tang founding member GZA, posted the sad new about Oliver “Power” Grant’s passing to Instagram on Tuesday, saying,

“We couldn’t have done it without him. Wu wouldn’t have come to fruition without Power. His passing is a profound loss to us all. My deepest condolences to the fam.”

Oliver “Power” Grant was not a performing member of the group.  Grant was a Jamaican native who grew up in Staten Island, New York where he was childhood friends with the men who would later become the Wu-Tang Clan. Grant who was nicknamed “Power” by other Wu-Tang members following a game of chess, reportedly made an early financial investment in the group in the early ’90s becoming the executive producer of the group’s early recordings and headed the Wu Wear fashion line.

The news of Oliver “Power” Grants passing comes as the Wu-Tang Clan received their first nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Oliver “Power” Grant died on February 23, 2026, but the cause and place of death were not released.
