Two men were found hanging in Mississippi on Monday, the family of one of the men have some serious concerns after they were told their loved one was found dead in his dorm, only to find out about the hanging in the news.
Monday morning the body of a Black student identified as 21-year-old Demartravion “Trey” Reed was found hanging from a tree at Delta State University, in Cleveland, Mississippi. According to police chief Peeler said the circumstances behind Reed’s hanging are still under investigation by the Cleveland Police Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, and the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office. However according to Delta State University Chief of Police Michael Peeler:
“As of this time, there’s no evidence of foul play,” …“While there’s no evidence of foul play, the body has been retrieved by the Bolivar County Coroner’s Office.”
Trey Reed’s family is not happy with authorities for not suspecting foul play in Reed’s tragic passing, given that according to the family the misinformation they received from police, who initially told them “Trey was found dead in his dorm room, in his bed.”
A statement released through their attorney said:
“Trey’s family is not willing to accept any cause of death until they have been presented with all of the facts that will be independently verified through our own investigation.”
