Following An Overdose R. Kelly Is Denied Release From Jail

R. Kelly was placed in solitary confinement on June 10 “against his will,” shortly after his team filed an emergency motion for his release from prison last week. In that motion, Kelly’s team claimed three Bureau of Prisons officials allegedly devised a plot to have him killed by another inmate.  June 13, R. Kelly started feeling dizzy and was rushed to Duke University Hospital by ambulance where he was admitted for 2 days. During his two-day stay at the hospital, R. Kelly says he learned he was given an amount of his prescribed medication that could have ended his life.  A dosage that according to his lawyers was given to him by prison staff.  Also allegedly an inmate claims that authorities offered him release from jail if he murdered R. Kelly.

A federal judge in Chicago rejected R. Kelly’s request to be removed from prison and placed on home detention. The judge stated she lacked jurisdiction to address his attorneys’ allegations that federal authorities conspired to harm him in prison.
