A new rule removed “recurrent” songs from the Hot 100 more quickly, which caused Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” to be removed from the top 40 even while it was still popular. For the first time since 1990, there is no hip hop in the Top 40 of the Billboard 100 chart.  According to Billboard, an AI singer named Xania Monet is “the first known AI artist to earn enough radio airplay to debut on a Billboard radio chart.”

At least one AI or AI-assisted artist has charted in each of the past four weeks, a “streak suggesting this trend is quickly accelerating.”  The AI artists include Xania Monet, an AI avatar created by Mississippi-based songwriter Telisha “Nikki” Jones, who used the AI music generator app Suno, and Juno Skye, an “AI-powered artist” that was produced by Nguyen Duc Nam.

Xania Monet who was signed to a multimillion-dollar record deal has appeared on multiple Billboard charts since first releasing a song in summer 2025, including the Hot Gospel Songs (for her song “Let Go, Let God”) and the Hot R&B Songs chart (for her song “How Was I Supposed to Know”), according to the publication.
