Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Didn’t Take Home A Trophy But Slayed The Oscar Stage [VIDEO]

The Broadway to Silver screen, ‘Wicked’, blew-out the box offices and was nominated for 10 Oscar awards this year. ‘Wicked’ won two Academy Awards for Best Costume Design with, legendary costume designer Paul Tazewell made history for being the first Black man to win an Oscar for best costume design for ‘Wicked’, and Best Production Design.  What’s wicked is stars Ariana Grande (Glinda) and Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), didn’t take home a trophy at the 2025 Oscar Awards, however the owned the opening stage when they slayed a ‘Wicked’ musical medley.

The Oscars 2025 opened with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, taking the stage to sing. Grande started with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” before Erivo took over to perform “Home” from The Wiz. Then, they came back together to sing Wicked‘s part one closer, “Defying Gravity.” Ariana watched in awe, seeing Erivo soar and nailing those final notes, as did the audience. The performance earned a standing ovation.

The greatness that is ‘Wicked’ is not over yet as the 2025 promo tour for Wicked: For Good, will release in theaters on November 21, 2025.
