Tyler Perry’s ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’ Official Trailer Drops and Patti Is Missing [VIDEO]

One of Tyler Perry’s fan favorite movies ‘Why Did I Get Married…’has become a trilogy moving from coming to a theater near you to dropping on Netflix on September 9, 2026.  The official trailer to the highly anticipated ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’ dropped today July 9th, and Patti (Janet Jackson) is missing however there’s a new friend Roselyn (Taraji P. Henson).

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?, a sequel to the 2007 hit Why Did I Get Married? and 2010’s Why Did I Get Married Too?. The third entry centers on the ensemble cast’s reunion at a wedding in Lake Como, Italy, where two children from the franchise’s core group of friends — portrayed by Perry, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Michael Jai White, Tasha Smith, Sharon Leal and Lamman Rucker — are getting married. Taraji P. Henson, who has worked with Perry a number of times in the past, also joins the cast as the mother of the groom at the wedding in question.

Janet Jackson is not returning for the latest installment in Tyler Perry’s relationship franchise, Why Did I Get Married Again?. Her absence is reportedly due to scheduling conflicts (she was out on tour during filming) and a focus on other professional commitments rather than being recast. 

While we wait for September 9th to get here, we can watch the first two, Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too?, on Netflix.
