Back in January 1992 the late rapper Tupac Shakur, was inspired to write a song about the heartbreaking story of a 12-year-old Brooklyn girl who was raped by a relative, and in her desperation, threw her newborn in the trash, titled ‘Brenda’s Got A Baby’. 33 years later Tupac Shakur biographer Jeff Pearlman has found Brenda’s baby and reunited him with Brenda. Davonn Hodge, the child that inspired Tupac Shakur’s “Brenda’s Got A Baby” song is now 34-year-old and has been reunited with his mother after 20 years.
Tupac Shakur biographer Jeff Pearlman a bestselling author who went from sports to writing Tupac’s biography, on an appearance on ‘The Rich Eisen Show’ told the story behind Tupac’s ‘Brenda’s Got A Baby’ and how he found the baby and mother Tupac Shakur rapped about. Pearlman recalled how Tupac was in New York filming the movie ‘Juice’ when he got the inspiration behind the song . According to Pearlman the story behind “Brenda” and her baby and then reveals how he partnered with a genealogist named Michele Soulli to track down “Brenda’s” baby, real name Davonn Hodge. After locating him Pearlman had Soulli look for his birth mother, who ironically happened to be living near where Davonn Hodge lived when they found her.
