Politics/election news back in the day was pretty boring, and racism was kept in the closet. Now that we have live in the world of social media, breaking news happens in the moment and unfortunately racism is out the closet.
During former President Donald Trumps rally in Madison Square Garden comments and jokes went racially left.
Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe while addressing the rally crowd, he pointed out a Black rallygoer and remarked, “That’s one of my buddies. He had a Halloween party last night. We had fun. We carved watermelons together; it was awesome.” This comment sparked outrage, with many condemning his casual racism. In another controversial moment, he referred to Puerto Rico as “an island of garbage,” saying, “There’s a lot going on. I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”
New York Mayor Eric Adams took to ‘X’ to express his thoughts on what happened during the rally
The hateful words that were used by some at today’s rally at Madison Square Garden were completely unacceptable. No matter who says it, hate is hate and there is no place for it in our city.
Longtime Trump adviser Peter Navarro is calling the comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe, “the biggest, stupidest asshole that ever came down the comedy pike”
Tony Hinchcliffe took to ‘X’ to respond to the backlash:
These people have no sense of humor. Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his “busy schedule” to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist. I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone…watch the whole set.
