Tremane Wood Spared From Execution Then Found Unresponsive In Cell [VIDEO]

Tremane Wood was scheduled to be executed on November 13, 2025 by lethal injection for the 2002 murder of 19 year old Ronnie Wipf, who was stabbed in the heart during an ambush robbery. Wood’s brother, Zjaiton Wood confessed to the stabbing, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, where he died by suicide in 2019.   Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, before Tremane Wood scheduled 10:00am execution at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, granted clemency for Tremane Wood, who had been on Oklahoma’s death row for more than 20 years.  Then in a strange twist hours after that Tremane Wood was found unresponsive in his cell.

According to officials, Wood had just met with his legal team and began the process of being moved off death row when things went left. During a routine check, a correctional officer reportedly found him unresponsive in his cell. ODOC says Wood suffered a “medical event” while settling into a new cell, leading to injuries that sent him straight to a nearby hospital. Doctors later determined the episode was triggered by severe dehydration and stress.

A thankful Tremane Wood has recovered after receiving medical care.
