Original ‘Death Row Records’ founder/CEO, Suge Knight is serving a 28-year prison sentence for voluntary manslaughter following his role in the death of a man that he allegedly ran over when he was allegedly trying to meet up with the original members of NWA then they were filming ‘Straight Outta Compton’ but that doesn’t mean he is not making coins. Many have said many things about Suge Knight over the years however Suge is now speaking his truth in a new memoir titled ‘Your Pain Is My Joy’.
Through his intimidating negotiating style, brutal business practices and ties to the Bloods gang, Suge Knight became one of the most feared executives in hip-hop. The Compton native guided Death Row to dominance in rap’s golden age of the mid-90s, with a roster that included titans like 2Pac, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
Gallery Books announced that that it is publishing Suge Knight’s upcoming Your Pain is My Joy, which will be released on August 4, 2026. Per a press release, the “shockingly candid” book “takes readers on an unflinching ride through Suge’s Compton neighborhood to the peak of the gangsta rap era, when the streets and the music business mixed freely.”
‘Your Pain Is My Joy’: 100 Rounds with Suge Knight is a controversial memoir by Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight, co-written with Neil Strauss, that details his rise and fall in the hip-hop industry, focusing on his life through the lens of 100 significant fights or confrontations. Published in 2016, the book offers an unapologetic, first-person account of his life in Compton, his business dealings with artists like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac Shakur, and his perspective on the violence and power struggles that defined the “Golden Age of Rap”.
Marion Hugh “Suge” Knight Jr the former Death Row Records CEO will first be eligible for parole in 2034.
