South Carolina’s Dawn Staley Working To Bring Former Players Home From “War Zone”

March Madness 2026 has a different meaning for The South Carolina Women’s Gamecock basketball family.

Before some go there, it is pretty reckless and insensitive to drag female athletes that can’t earn a living here in America because of fewer opportunities and a lot less money.  Especially when during their college careers millions were made off their sweat.  With that being said there are many female Americans that are playing ball professionally over in the Middle East and are now they trapped in the middle of war zone.  While the president has being given update on American lives will be lost in this ‘battle’, South Carolina Head Coach Dawn Staley is working to try and help bring her former players home that are playing over in Israel professionally to support their families.

Dawn Staley took to X on Saturday posting videos of one of her three former players update on what’s going on, Staley wrote that Tiffany Mitchell, Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and Destiny Littleton are “in a war zone in Israel,” adding, “We are working a plan to get home. Let us pray for our loved ones to return home safely asap! Thank you in advance.”  According to ESPN, a spokeswoman for South Carolina athletics said there was no additional information beyond what Staley posted publicly.

Let us pray for all Americans that are stuck over seas during these truly disturbing times and God bless coach Dawn Staley for not turning her back on her former players.
