South Carolina’s Dawn Staley Say’s No NBA Team Is Ready For A Female Coach [VIDEO]

For years we wondered would this country ever elect a black president.  Then following the historic election/term of Barack Obama many debate whether this country would be ready for a female president and judging by the last two females that ran, the answer to that would be, “no”, in spite of everything we are living through this country isn’t ready for a female present and according to South Carolina Women’s legendry head coach Dawn Staley neither is the NBA….not ready for a female coach that is.

According to South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley, in an interview with Craig Melvin on the latest episode of his Glass Half Full podcast, Dawn talked about her 2025 interview with the New York Knicks for their head coaching position in which they opted to hire former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown.

“No NBA team is ready for a female coach right now. Not one.” … “Culturally, you have to prepare for it.”

Dawn made clear she hopes the landscape shifts in the near future.

“I’m putting it out there so NBA franchises can get ready for a female coach. I might not be the one, but I’m letting people know that you have to prepare if you’re going to hire a female coach,”
